Bolton Bound!!

Hudson has sealed a place at his spiritual darting home - the PDC UK Open - for the fourth year in succession after this weekend's final qualifiers for the Sky Sports major.

A run to the third round on the Saturday meant Pete entered the ranking money once again and will enter the tournament in the second round when the tournament starts on June 6th.

Rochdale Classic Runner up!!

Pete Hudson battled through a challenging field to the final of the 2013 Rochdale Classic this weekend, but narrowly missed out on the first prize in a deciding leg in the final.

Losing the bull off against Ross Smith, on stage with John Gwynne calling order, proved to be pivotal.

Hudson had earlier escaped the group of death, drawing none other than Robbie Green in round one! For full details click here.

Rock keeps Rolling!!

Hudson's UK open campaign continued to make steady progress this weekend as he added another £400 to his order of merit - putting him on the cusp of a place in Bolton with still 4 events to play.

A shaky start saw a first round exist on Saturday, but he can thank a tough draw against former Masters champion Mervyn King for that one! Sunday saw the Rock make amends, however as a run to the fourth round with back to back 6-2 wins saw him against current UK Open Champion Rob Thornton. The game went all the way to a decider before the Scot triumphed.

Welcome to 2013!!

The 2013 PDC Pro Tour was back this weekend and Hudson started his campaign with a steady, if unspectacular three days of darts.

The Rock battled past his first two opponents to come within one match of qualifying for the first of the big money European Tour events, in the UK Masters qualifier on Friday night, but fell at the last hurdle to in form Jim Walker.

Saturday saw Hudson have a fine run deep into the competition with three victories against some well known names, including World Youth Champion James Hubbard, and Jamie "Jabba" Caven. It took multiple major finalist Ronnie Baxter to stop Peter's charge in the last 32 of the competition.

On Sunday, The Rock once again ensured he added to his ranking money with back to back victories before bowing out to a sensational performance to Kevin Thomas, which included an incredible perfect 9 dart finish leg.

A Learning Curve!!

The Rock's much anticipated match against James Wade turned out to be a nervy affair for the 28 year old debutee.   7 times major champion Wade made hay to close out a 3-0 victory with a 91.09 average to Hudson's 82.57.

As Wade was throwing first in the opening set, it wasn't panic stations for Pete as he held to take the early spoils, and the trend continued in the second set as both players held early, but a crucial break of throw in the third leg was the killer blow, allowing the Machine to throw in the third for the match.

Hudson can take solace in the fact that very few players win their first fully televised major match, and the experience gained from playing in the biggest tournament on the circuit gives him plenty to build on in 2013.

You can watch the full match by visiting the videos section of the site here.   And view photos from his match in the gallery here.

Pete would like to wish all his followers a very merry christmas and a happy new year, and thanks everyone who has supported, followed or helped him during 2012.

Meeting the Machine!!

Pete Hudson has today learned his first round opponent at the Ladbrokes.com World Darts Championship, which starts in under two weeks time with all games shown in full live on Sky Sports.

And it is none other than seven times major champion and world number three, James "The Machine" Wade.

The pair have met three times on the pro tour.  And Hudson holds the advantage, winning two of those encounters.

Order of play is yet to be confirmed.

Pete Pings Pally Place!

Pete Hudson competed in the final weekend of floor events this calendar year, knowing he was on the brink of qualifying for a spot at the Ladrokes World Darts Championship next month.

And it was a happy ending for "The Rock", as he added another impressive £400 to his order of merit, which was more than enough to ensure he sealed his place at Alexandra Palace over christmas in the biggest event of them all.

Wins against Nick Fulwell on the Saturday and Ronnie Baxter on Sunday saw Pete cap off the most successful darting year of his career so far, and it will all conclude as he heads to Muswell Hill for the darting feast at the world championship live on Sky Sports in December, where Hudson already has £6000 guaranteed for a first round place!

Creeping closer!

The penultimate weekend of qualifying events took place this weekend and The Rock added a crucial £400 to his Pro Tour order of merit to edge ever closer to a place at the Ladbrokes.com World Darts Championships in December.

Wins over Mick Todd and Bernd Roith over the two days ensured Pete made the money stages in both events.   He now holds position number 13, with 16 qualifying from the one year list, with only two events to play!

The World's wait

Hudson headed out to Nuland, Holland this weekend to take part in the 5th Euro Tour event of the year, and the draw could not have been more challenging!

In Round one, Pete faced newly crowned World Grand Prix champion Michael van Gerwen.   A win would have all but sealed his place in the world championship, but the Dutch former World Master took a close game 4-6, so its all eyes on the Crawley Players championship weekend coming up for Hudson to see if he can add enough money to his ranking to confirm his place at the big one!

8th October 2012

Dublin Delight!

Hudson took a giant leap towards qualification for the World Championship this weekend with a treble topping of additions to his order of merit ranking.

The weekend begun with the qualifier for the all important Euro Tour events, where the prize money available for making the final stages is crucial to making majors.

Pete knew once the draw was made he had only one obstacle in his way to qualifying for the fifth and final of these events at the end of the month, and that was a best of 11 match against young gun Chris Aubrey.    The Rock was up to the challenge, and made no mistake with a 6-4 win.   This guarrantees Pete £200 towards his ranking, but one more win in the final stages will all but seal his place at Ally Pally for the World Championships at the end of the year!

To bolster his chances of making it to Muswell hill, a weekend of Pro-Tour events followed in the Irish capital, and on Saturday Hudson added another £200 with a victory against Keith Stephen before coming up short against Joe Cullen.

But Pete was to fair much better on the Sunday, with a terrific run to the last 32 of the always strong field.   Wins against Steve Maish and Michael Smith set up a tough last 64 match against bang in form Ian White, but Pete polished the "Diamond" off to add £600 more to his Order of Merit.   Mervyn King edged out Hudson in round four.

South Yorkshire slugging!

Pete had a disappointing weekend on the PDC pro tour back in Blighty this weekend.

At the Barnsley Metrodome, Pete lost out to Scott Rand in round one on Saturday.   On Sunday, he did manage to add important prize money to his rankings, though, with a win over Bernt Roith in round one.   An agonising deciding leg loss to former world champion Richie Burnett in round two brought Hudson's weekend to an end though.

9th September 2012

Euro Qualifier!

Pete made sure of meeting his minimum requirements at the recent Euro Tour event in Germany this weekend as the PDC tour came back to life with the big money event on the continent.

With a big jump in prize money for a first round win, Pete made sure he banked the £1000 second round prize money by bagging a terrific 6-4 win against PDC stalwart Alan "The Saint" Tabern with an impressive 89.56 average.

Round two draws don't come much tougher than the current world champion, Adrian Lewis, though and the eventual champion run through with an average of over 103.

Pete will be back in action on the Pro-tour next weekend as the PDC heads to Barnsley for another Saturday-Sunday double event.

5th September 2012

Euro Qualifier!

The compulsary PDC August holiday is now over so after several weeks away from the Pro-tour Peter is hungry to get back playing big time darts.

"The Rock" has been keeping busy on the local darts scene.   This includes making 7 of 9 finals in the Widnes individuals league, and thus topping the table to make the finals.   He also made it to the final of the Swinton Leisure one dayer, and lost a close game to Mark Mcgeaney.   Good runs in the Little Hulton open and the Woodlands open, along with his usual log-end league outings have ensured Pete has been keeping his game as sharp as his darts!

The 3rd Euro Tour event is the first stop on the PDC calendar since the re-start.   Hudson will travel to Germany for Friday's first round match against Alan "the saint" Tabern.   There is a big jump in prize money for a first round win, so Pete will be looking for the £1000+ for winning his first game towards his order of merit ranking, to keep him on course for an Alexandra Palace place!

Good luck to Pete!

5th August 2012

Euro Qualifier!

Qualifying for the new PDC Euro events is crucial in Pete's campaign to make the World's championships.

With more prize money on offer than a standard pro tour event to count towards order of merit rankings, it was essential Hudson made the finals through the qualifiers on Friday night.

A win against Steve Hine set up a showdown against Steve West to decide a place in the final stages of the German Darts Classic.   And Peter did the business to seal the win he needed and a guarranteed £200.   One win in the finals increases that to £1000.

The final stages will be played on September 7-9.

2nd July 2012

More Pro-tour Progress!

The PDC pro tour bandwagon rolled on this week, with back to back events in Crawley.

It wasn't a great start for Pete, as he was edged out in a deciding first round leg against Michael Barnard for a 5-6 loss.

But Sunday saw the sun shine brighter on the Rock. A first round win against PDC stalwart Denis "The Heat" Ovens set up a last 64 match against Steve Farmer. Hudson was too strong for the former England International though, and that was also true in the last 32 against Andrew Gilding. In the last 16, Pete was out to exact revenge against his Bolton nemesis in the red-hot Kim Huybrechts. The tie went all 11 legs but it was the Belgian who came out on top again.

But £600 more on the ranking money means Pete's Alexandra Palace dreams stay on track. This was in addition to a local tournament win in Salford during the week too!

26th June 2012

Berlin Blues!

Pete was unable to add to the £200 he won by qualifying for the European Tour event two in Berlin on Friday.

The good news, is Hudson has moved up to 66th in the PDC's order of merit and is currently on target for a place at the 2013 World Championship!

17th June 2012

Brilliant best in Birmingham!

The Rock had an all-time best run in a PDC Pro tour event this saturday, with a terrific run to the quarter finals.

Wins against Andy Jenkins and Terry Temple saw Hudson set up a last 32 tie against Multiple world finalist Mervyn King. Pete ran out a comfortable 6-3 winner.

In the last 16 now and by this stage you can expect no easy draws. And in the shape of Robert Thornton who is fresh of the back of a 11-5 victory over Phil Taylor in UK Open final, they didn't come much tougher. But Pete was in magnificent form and made his first ever pro tour quarter final with a strong 6-3 win.

Pete lost out to eventual event winner Ronnie Baxter at this stage and could not repeat the feat on Sunday, losing his opener 5-6.

But a great platform built going into next weekends second Euro Tour event in Berlin!

8th June 2012

Rolling in at the Reebok!

Hudson made the ranking money stages of the UK open but a tough draw against Kim Huybrechts in the Last 64 was always going to be a tough ask.

Pete was 3-5 and 4-6 against the Belgian but Kim found top gear and pulled away to seal victory to end Pete's dream on Friday evening.

The previous night, The Rock found himself up against in-form youngster Jamie Lewis in the second round. But Hudson's scoring power proved too strong on this occasion and Hudson made sure he was coming back for day two with an impressive 4-1 win.
